For me one of the most intimidating things about stepping into senior leadership roles is the need to have gravitas – the presence, charisma and influence to get up there and be heard.
Many great leaders seem to be so comfortable in their skin. At ease on the stage; voice steady. I’m not sure I’d even be able to fake that level of assuredness.
For this reason, I’m really digging Caroline Goyder’s work right now. Goyder is a voice coach who has stepped into the corporate world to help executives with mastering gravitas.
Her website suggests I’m right to be concerned: Goyder says ‘a lack of Gravitas will impede your professional success’ however, she assures us that gravitas can be learned.
